Overview
Porter Capital is an independent factoring and asset-based lending company. Its headquarters is at 2112 1st Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. Its team page says brothers Marc and Donald Porter founded Porter Capital Corporation in Birmingham in 1991. The page says the company has provided billions of dollars in funding since then. Marc Porter leads the company as chief executive.
Porter is the parent of Porter Freight Funding, its trucking division. This profile covers Porter Capital's general business factoring for companies outside trucking.
The company serves businesses nationwide. Its team page lists business development staff in Georgia, Minnesota and Florida as well as Birmingham. It works only with businesses that sell to other businesses or to government, on payment terms from net 30 to net 120.
Some pages listed under Sources are Internet Archive copies saved between May and October 2026.
Services
- Recourse factoring. The invoice factoring page says recourse means the client must reimburse Porter if a customer does not pay. It says recourse comes with lower fees and higher approval rates.
- Non-recourse factoring. The same page says non-recourse moves the risk of a customer's default to Porter, with slightly higher fees and more selective approval. The non-recourse page says the protection covers credit problems such as a customer's insolvency. It does not cover disputes over goods, services or returns.
- Non-recourse carve-out. The non-recourse page describes a "carve-out" product that sits alongside a client's existing bank through intercreditor agreements.
- Selective factoring. The FAQ says clients can submit a portion of their invoices based on their financing needs, whenever they need cash.
- Notification options. The invoice factoring page says collections can be handled openly with the customer or behind the scenes. A recent case study describes a non-notification facility.
- Asset-based lending and credit lines. The team page confirms credit lines of up to $25 million.
Case studies on the homepage include:
- September 2026: a $5 million recourse factoring facility for a flooring and exhibition services company, funded in under 10 days from first contact.
- August 2026: a $10 million non-notification factoring facility for a family-owned seafood processor, with initial funding of $6.5 million.

The homepage marks the 0.4% rate with an asterisk. It says clients with higher invoice volumes or better credit quality may qualify for lower fees. The site does not say what time period the 0.4% covers. The invoice factoring page says fees depend on payment terms, volume and the risk of the receivables. Its worked example uses an 85% advance and a 3% fee. The FAQ says clients receive up to 90% within 24 hours and the remaining 10%, minus the fee, once the customer pays. It also says cost depends on the number of invoices submitted and the services Porter handles. The site does not list wire, ACH, setup or termination fees. The homepage says "financing in as little as 24 hours." The site does not advertise same-day funding.
How to apply
The FAQ says quotes are free. To qualify for lines of credit, Porter says a business needs a business bank account. It says eligibility rests more on the creditworthiness of the business's customers than on the business's own credit. The company says that once paperwork is submitted, financing is normally approved within 24 hours. Contact details are on its contact page.
