Company profile

Overview

Porter Freight Funding is the freight factoring division of Porter Capital. Its headquarters is in Birmingham, Alabama. Its about page says it was founded in 2011 as part of Porter Capital's expansion into transportation finance. The same page says Porter Capital has funded more than $15 billion in invoices since 1991.

Besides Birmingham, the company lists offices in Hartselle, Alabama; Dallas, Texas; Madison, South Dakota; and Farmington, New York. It says it serves carriers nationwide and offers both recourse and non-recourse factoring.

Porter's live website could not be accessed by automated tools in November 2026. Pages listed under Sources are Internet Archive copies of Porter's own pages, saved between January and June 2026. Terms on those pages are as of each capture date. Some terms below were recorded in January 2026 and are labeled with that date.

Services

  • Freight factoring. Recourse and non-recourse programs. Porter handles billing and collections. Its FAQ says these are included at no additional cost for non-recourse clients. The FAQ also says clients do not have to factor every invoice.
  • Freight broker credit checks. Free and unlimited, run through the PorterGO app.
  • PorterWallet. A dedicated account and card for Porter's factoring clients. Its 24/7 advances page says approved funds can be moved instantly at any hour, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • PorterGO app. Combines credit checks, document scanning and submission, funding status, load boards and a fuel discount finder.
  • Fuel card. Accepted at more than 2,500 truck stops nationwide, with diesel discounts. Its FAQ says the card can be paired with fuel advances and a credit line. The fuel card page advertises fuel advances of up to 50% of the load. Carriers who do not factor with Porter can also get the card. Cardholders receive weekly savings reports.
  • Collections on problem invoices. Its FAQ says its Account Resolution Team recovers more than 80% of problem invoices.

The FAQ says costs depend on invoice volume, customer credit and payment timelines. The 1.5% introductory rate carries three conditions in the small print of its owner-operator page and rate page: a one-year recourse contract, a 95% advance rate, and no Sprinter vans or box trucks. After 60 days, the rate moves to the rate in the contract.

The FAQ says the one-year agreement is designed to provide stability and better pricing. Under the recourse program, the client may be responsible for an unpaid invoice once the 90-day collection period ends.

How to apply

Its FAQ says applying has no impact on the applicant's credit. Funding is by same-day wire, next-day ACH or PorterWallet.
